A companion and an older adult walking together outdoors

How it works

Four steps, no pressure, no long contracts.

From first inquiry to a standing visit, here is exactly what happens and how long each part takes.

The process

Nothing here commits you to anything.

Each step is designed so both sides can say “this is not the right fit” without any awkwardness.

01

Tell us about your week

A short, guided questionnaire covering location, living situation, interests and what you are hoping for. Roughly two minutes, one question at a time.

02

A personal conversation

A twenty to thirty minute call, by phone or Zoom, about what is really going on. We listen far more than we pitch, and we are honest if another kind of provider would serve you better.

03

An introduction visit

A first visit with no long-term expectation attached, so the person receiving support can decide for themselves whether they are a fit with one of our companions.

04

A steady rhythm

If it works, we settle into a consistent schedule. Standing visits, the same companion, adjusted as life changes.

Investment

Quoted honestly, after a conversation.

No two weeks look the same, so we do not price this off a menu. What it costs depends on how often we come and how long we stay, and we would rather understand that before quoting a number.

01

Tell us the rhythm you have in mind

How often, how long, and what you are hoping the visits actually do. It takes about two minutes to complete.

02

We talk it through

Twenty to thirty minutes on the phone or by video, about what would genuinely help and whether we are the right kind of support.

03

You get it in writing

Schedule, visit length and billing rhythm, confirmed before a first visit. No contract, no membership, nothing to buy up front.

How families usually begin

We often find that nobody commits to a schedule on day one, and we would not ask them to. Most start with an introduction visit, try a few more over a couple of weeks, and then settle into a standing rhythm once the person receiving support has decided for themselves that they are a fit with one of our companions.

There is no long-term contract, no membership and no package you have to buy up front.

What is confirmed in writing before a first visit

Scope of support, the hourly rate and expected visit length, the schedule, travel and service area, family communication preferences, billing rhythm, and the boundary between companionship and any care we do not provide.

Questions

The things people ask first.

What does a companion visit include?

Every visit is shaped around the person. That may mean conversation, a walk, an outing, a brain-stimulating activity, technology help, a practical project done together, or time to reconnect with something they enjoy.

Is this home health or medical care?

No. My Modern Companion is a non-medical companionship and lifestyle support service. We do not provide nursing, medication management, hands-on personal care, clinical supervision, or emergency services.

Who is a good fit?

The service is designed for independent older adults who want more connection, activity, encouragement, or help with the everyday parts of life that are simply better when shared.

What does it cost?

Every plan is quoted individually, because no two weeks look the same. After a short conversation about what you are hoping for, we put the schedule, visit length and billing rhythm in writing before a first visit. There is no long-term contract and nothing to buy up front.

Can you visit someone in an independent-living community?

Yes, subject to the community’s policies and the person’s needs. One-to-one companionship complements a community calendar with more personal attention, shared interests, and individual outings.

Do you provide transportation?

Transportation arrangements are discussed individually and confirmed in writing before any visit. We do not promise client transportation through this website.

What if my loved one needs more support than this?

If a person needs hands-on personal care, medication management, clinical support, continuous supervision, or substantial lifting or transfer help, another type of provider may be safer. We will be clear and respectful about fit, and we are glad to point you toward the right kind of help.

Where do you serve?

We serve Dallas with a focus on the park cities, Plano, Coppell and surrounding areas. That includes Highland Park, University Park, Preston Hollow, Turtle Creek, West Plano, North Dallas and Coppell. Availability and travel fit are confirmed personally so every relationship can stay consistent.

Two minutes is all the first step takes.
